Why color mushrooms?
A mushroom is a gift to a colorist. The cap is a big, forgiving shape for blending, the spots and gills invite pattern, and nobody expects a toadstool to be one particular color, so you can go classic red and white or try lilac, teal or gold. Mushroom houses add a second pleasure: the little details of a home, such as a wooden door, a chimney, a basket by the step and a candle in the window.
A palette for mushroom pages
