A snowy cottage Christmas, in 60 pages
Cozy Cottage Christmas follows Christmas around a stone cottage in six parts: snowy cottages from the lane, doors and wreaths, the fireside, the tree and its decorations, the kitchen at Christmas (gingerbread, cocoa, cookies and a pudding) and Christmas outdoors, with a snowman, a bunny on a sled, a duck and a kitten skating on the ice, and a fox with a lantern. The snow is drawn as soft rounded shapes rather than fine sparkle, so the pages stay calm to color, and there’s a cute animal in most of them.
If you’d like the rest of the year too, the Seasons & Cats trio is the Christmas book with Cozy Cottage Autumn and Cozy Cottage Cats, for $16.99. For a more detailed winter, A Year at the Cottage from The Honeywick Collection has a winter hearth room, a snowy cottage, a winter reading nook and a winter village walk among its seasonal scenes.
More Christmas books to choose from
The Seasonal Collection adds four more Christmas books in different styles. Nutmeg & Noel is a whole storybook Christmas from Santa’s workshop to Christmas Eve. Ginger & Glaze is gingerbread villages, cocoa, cookies and puddings, every one with a smiling face. Ribbon & Rosette is a delicate coquette Christmas with bows on everything, and Rex & Reindeer has dinosaurs tangled in tree lights. The first three are together in the Christmas Treats & Bows Trio, and for something simpler, our winter coloring pages are mugs, mittens and snowmen.
A printable Christmas present
A printable coloring book makes a last-minute gift that never gets stuck in the post. Buy it, print the pages on good paper (100 gsm or heavier), clip them into a folder with a few pencils, and it’s ready for under the tree. Or forward the file to someone who likes to print their own. It works as a stocking filler for a teen, and as an evening’s quiet for a grown-up once the wrapping’s done.
Coloring ideas for Christmas pages
- Don’t color the snow white. Leave it as paper and shade its edges with the palest blue, lilac or grey. The white of the page is brighter than any white pencil.
- Try a soft Christmas palette. Sage and moss green for the greenery, dusty rose instead of bright red, honey gold for lights, and cream for the stone. It’s cozier than primary red and green.
- Make the windows glow. Color lit windows butter yellow in the middle and peach at the edges, and keep the walls around them a shade darker.
- Save a page for a card. Print one design at 100%, color it, and fold it into a homemade Christmas card. That’s personal use, and it’s allowed.
Want to try some first? The free Seasonal sampler has a page from each of the four Christmas books and the two winter books, and the free Cozy Cottage sampler includes a cat climbing the Christmas tree. No email and no account: download, print and see how they come out.
