Christmas coloring pages

Easy winter or a snowy village?

Mitten & Mug is the easy one: sixty single-subject pages with thick lines and a lot of open space. There are mugs of cocoa and marshmallows, hats, scarves and mittens, snowmen and snowflakes, winter animals, ornaments and wreaths, and cozy things such as slippers, blankets and a fireplace. It’s a good first book, and a good one for markers.

Snowfall & Slumber is sixty cute scenes: a snowy high street, forest animals, snow play, windows to look out of, winter markets with their stalls and treats, bears and foxes asleep for the winter and starry night skies. The pages are a little busier, and there are more windows and small pieces to fill.

Both are in the Winter Friends Trio with the festive dinosaur book Rex & Reindeer, three books for $16.99. For a full Christmas, see our Christmas coloring pages.

Coloring ideas for winter pages

  • Don’t color the snow white. Leave it as paper and shade its edges with the palest blue, lilac or grey. The white of the page is brighter than any white pencil.
  • Warm the small things. One red scarf, a yellow window or an orange mug stands out against cool blues and greys.
  • Use cool shadows. A little lilac or blue under a snowman or a cottage’s eaves makes the snow look deep.
  • Finish the night skies last. Color the sky in navy, press lightly, and add the moon, stars and aurora afterwards in pale yellow and green.

Every book comes with a full-color reference guide, a colored version of each page numbered to match, if you’d like a palette to start from.

Common questions

Are these winter coloring pages for adults or for kids?

They’re drawn for teens and adults, but Mitten & Mug has big simple shapes that older children can color easily with pencils or markers.

How many winter pages are there?

Mitten & Mug has 60 pages and Snowfall & Slumber has 60, so 120 winter pages, plus 60 festive pages in Rex & Reindeer and more in our Christmas books.

What should I color them with?

Colored pencils, gel pens and fine-tip markers all work. For gel pens and fine-tip markers print on 100–120 gsm (28–32 lb) paper; for alcohol or brush markers use 160 gsm (65 lb) or cardstock so the ink doesn’t soak through. The printing guide has the details.

Can I print the same page more than once?

Yes. Print as many copies as you like for yourself, your family or your own classroom. The license has the details.
