Which book for tea and baking?
Cozy Cottage Tea Party is tea time from every angle: teapots and cups, cakes and sweets, garden tea, table settings, animal tea guests and quiet tea-time moments. The china carries simple floral and dot patterns that are lovely to color. Cozy Cottage Kitchen is the baking day before it: bread and pies, preserves and the pantry, the stove and hearth, the kitchen table and produce straight from the garden. Both are in the cute, bold Cozy Cottage style, and both are in the Home & Hearth trio with Cozy Cottage Nooks.
In the detailed Honeywick style, The Little Farmhouse Kitchen has bread ovens, pantry shelves, copper pots and pie-making counters, and Teatime in the Hollow is twenty woodland tea parties hosted by rabbits, foxes, badgers and owls.
Coloring ideas for tea tables
- Color china like china. Leave the cup itself cream or white and put all the color into the pattern: dusty rose flowers with sage leaves, or cornflower-blue dots. A thin grey shadow inside the rim makes it look glazed.
- Tea is darker at the edge. Honey brown in the middle and a warmer brown around the rim of the cup makes tea look like tea.
- Bake it golden. Butter yellow first, then honey gold on the tops and edges, and a touch of brown where it would catch in the oven.
- Gingham in two passes. Color every other row of squares lightly, then go over the squares where two colored rows cross. That’s a tablecloth in five minutes.
Try it free first: the Cozy Cottage sampler has a cat holding a teacup and a cat asleep beside a basket of muffins, and the Honeywick sampler has a farmhouse bread oven and a woodland tea party.
